Thanks, Tangerine, for providing such a great alternative to the usual Boulder fare. I had polenta with sauteed spinach, Romanesca sauce and a crispy fried hard cooked yolk egg (by request) and it was spectacular. The innovation of the dishes and the inclusion of dark leafy greens, which are a must, even for you who would not like to, added to the great taste. I would say, the prices are higher, but still mostly under $10 per plate, which if you're having Brunch, as we did, well then split the difference. Now, a word about the menu.many have commented here and friends have said it to me as well.many have said the prices are high. I LOVE the fresh, modern (and Orange.or since it's 2012, "Tangerine Tango") decor and felt very at home. Our server was pleasant, quick and did not make us feel that he wanted to turn the table. I can't believe it's taken me so long to go to Tangerine, but a friend suggested we meet at 8:30am and the atmosphere was great, so we lingered over coffee until 11. We'll definitely be back again and again! One note, the folks who run Tangerine also run Arugula next door, which explains their access to and inclusion of so many high-end Italian ingredients in their dishes. It matches most closely with the types of dishes served at Snooze, although I think the execution and ingredients were better at Tangerine. Likewise, this isn't the sort of grub they serve at Walnut Cafe or the Buff. This isn't diner food - visit Dot's or Starlite for that. My wife was similarly pleased with her dish, which featured asparagus and mushrooms alongside eggs. Sliced brie, prosciutto, pesto, and a newly-made hollandaise sauce accompanied two expertly-poached eggs. The "Green Eggs & Ham" benedict I ordered was by far the best eggs benedict I've ever had. The menu had a wide range of options, with several variations on common themes - omelets, benedicts, frittatas, etc. If you frequent Boulder restaurants on weekend breakfasts, you know that getting a table can be quite an affair. Schuyler was hopeful though, as Longmont adopted the parklets that were popularized by nearby Louisville. “We could fit four tables before, but only two with social distancing.” Boulder County’s current Modified Level Blue status for COVID allows for restaurants to operate at 100% capacity so long as parties can maintain six feet of social distancing. Part of the initial reason for closing Tangerine’s Longmont restaurant was due to capacity restrictions and size. “We hadn’t even opened a year in Longmont before the pandemic started, it was really a kick in the pants,” Schuyler said. Schuyler kept the Boulder and Lafayette locations open in the interim, but was glad that the third location could open its doors once more. Tangerine Longmont closed its doors indefinitely in July of 2020, citing uncertainty, slower sales, capacity restrictions and exhaustion of the funds from the Paycheck Protection loan. “I’ve opened this location three times now, hopefully this is it.” Hopefully the pandemic is over and we can keep moving forward,” Justin Medlin, manager at the Longmont location, said.
